Imagine yourself enjoying thousands of twinkling lights, smelling scents of mulled wine and baked cheese in the air, and feeling the utter magic of Christmastime in New York City. Curious on what to do once you’ve booked your ticket and landed there? Here’s how to enjoy a jam-packed day in the big apple.

New York City - Top 5 Holiday Things To Do

5. Grand Central Terminal

Also known as Grand Central Station, this commuter rail terminal located in Midtown Manhattan transports over 250,000 people daily. The iconic sight to see here is the cathedral-like Main Concourse. The stunning ceiling features a zodiac tapestry of 12 constellations painted in gold leaf. There is the legendary information booth clock where everyone says “meet me by the clock.” And if you head out to 42nd Street and Park Avenue you can see the stunning Tiffany Clock (it’s the largest example of Tiffany glass in the world).

4. Hudson Yards Lights

Decked out in two million twinkling lights, the Hudson Yard shops is an incredible place to take some wow-worthy holiday photos. Location just behind the Vessel, you can enjoy checking everyone off of your list while being stunned by the beautiful holiday decor.

3. Broadway Show

For any theatre fanatic, it would be a crime to go to NYC without seeing a Broadway production. This world-class destination for musicals and plays provides you with endless options to see legendary shows like Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, and Lion King to new hit shows like Six, and David Byrne’s American Utopia (our recent pick).

2. Bryant Park Winter Village

In the heart of Midtown Manhattan, there’s a magical Winter Village tucked inside Bryant Park filled with ice skating, holiday shops, and local food vendors. Access to enjoy the festivities is free and there is plenty to enjoy for all ages. Our top food recommendation is Destination Dumplings for their steamed pork bao. This is open through early March 2022.

1. Rockefeller Center

To nobody’s surprise, the number one must-see attraction in New York City during the holidays is to visit Rockefeller Center. Check out the skaters gliding on the rink underneath the iconic Christmas tree (it’s 79-feet tall!). Marvel at the Saks Fifth Avenue light show from a unique vantage point. And just around the corner, you’ll find larger-than-life ornaments for an obligatory selfie.

Happy holidays!
